Advanced Search

We have previously explained in our Getting Started help files how to do a basic search for people in your database. Click Searching for people to refresh your memory if needed.

The Advanced Search facility allows you to search for people in your database by using a combination of criteria.

We have set the Advanced Search page to be the new default home page on your admin portal. Every time you log into your database you will land on this search page. If you are working in another module on your database you can navigate to the Advanced Search module by clicking Menu >> Database >> Advanced Search.

This feature consists of two sections: 1) Advanced Search and 2) Quick Search.

Quick Search

Our goal at GoDoChurch is for you to get the information you require as quickly as possible. We have selected a few predetermined search criteria which we think you could use often as a database administrator.

When you click the Quick Search tab you will be presented with five options:

  • Birthdays this month: This search will list all the profiles who have a birthday in the current month.

  • Kids birthdays this month: This search will scan the kid's database and list all the kid's birthdays for the current month.

  • Anniversaries this month: This search will list all the profiles who have an anniversary in the current month.

  • View entire database: This search will list all the profiles in your database (excluding the kids).

  • Export entire database: This facility will export your entire database as a CSV file with the following fields: FirstName, LastName, Membership, Birthday, Age, Anniversary MobileNo, Email, Gender. PersonID. If you need other fields we suggest you go to the Search People feature to Download Entire Database from there.

Take Note: Once you have generated your search results you can perform a few actions to the list:

  • You can filter the search results by clicking on the name of the column headings

  • If you click on Bulk Actions you can 1) Message selected people, 2) Sync selected people to a certain list in your database, or 3) Export Selected profiles

Advanced Search

As mentioned, the Advanced Search facility allows you to search for people by using a combination of criteria. The Advanced Search module consists of 13 Search Sections:

  • Membership

  • Gender and Marital Status

  • Age

  • Birthdays

  • Anniversaries

  • Growth Path

  • Groups

  • Roles

  • Lists

  • Events

  • News Channels

  • Advanced Profile Info

  • Education

When you click on the name of each Search Section it will expand to display it's search fields. For example, if you select Membership >> Select you will be presented with the various membership options.

If you would like to begin a new search you can click the Reset Filters tab. When you click the Collapse Filter tab it will close any expanded Search Sections.

1) Search By Using a Single Search Section

Every Search Section has various fields which allows you to select what type of search you want to perform. These are quite self explanatory.

For example, if you would like to search for all the members in your database you will click on Membership >> Select >> Member >> Search.

You can do an advanced search within a Search Section also. For example, if you would like to generate a list of all the members and visitors you will click Membership >> Select >> Visitor and Member >> Search.

Here are a few comments for each of the different Search Sections:

  • Membership: You can use the CHECK ALL or UNCHECK ALL tabs to apply to your search.

  • Gender and Marital Status: You can perform a search for a specific group of people: MALES who are SINGLE or FEMALES who are MARRIED?

  • Age: You can search for people OF a specific age (Eg. 25 years old) or you can search for people BETWEEN a certain age (Eg. between 20 and 25 years old).

  • Birthdays: You have the following filters for the birthday searches: THIS WEEK, THIS MONTH, BETWEEN (two dates), ON (specific date).

  • Anniversaries: Same filter options as the birthdays.

  • Growth Path: You can search for a group of people who have PARTICIPATED in a specific Growth Path field or you can select multiple fields. You can also search for people who have NOT PARTICIPATED in a particular field.
Note: The NOT PARTICIPATED function is a great tool to use when communicating with people who have not attended a certain event. This helps you streamline your invitations to the necessary group of people and you no longer have to spam everyone in your database with irrelevant information.

  • Groups: This Search Section allows you to generate a list of GROUP MEMBERS, LEADERS, or NON MEMBERS of the different Group Types (which are listed under the Select tab).

  • Roles: This section allows you to search for people who FILL a specific role in the Church Roles module or someone who DOES NOT FILL a specific role.

  • Lists: This section allows you to search for people ON a specific LIST or NOT ON a specific LIST.

  • Events: This section allows you to search for those people WHO ATTENDED an event or those WHO DID NOT ATTEND a specific event.

  • News Channels: This section allows you to search for the people who have SUBSCRIBED to a news channel or those who have NOT SUBSCRIBED to a specific news channel.

  • Advanced Profile Info: This section gives you the ability to select a single or combination of advanced profile information.

  • Education: This section allows you to search for people who graduated between certain dates.

NOTE: If you select a combination within a single search section it will generate a list if ANY of the criteria are true. For example, if you select VISITOR and MEMBER within the MEMBERSHIP search section, it will generate a single list of all the VISITORS and MEMBERS.

2) Search By Using a Combination of Search Sections

The Advanced Search facility allows you to do some comprehensive searches across various search sections. As mentioned, if you select various fields within the same search section it will search for both these selections, but as soon as you introduce a field from another search section it will refine the search.

Here are a few examples to explain the combinations:

1) If I select the following fields:

Membership >> Members

Gender and Marital Status >> Male

News Channels >> Subscribed >> News

This will generate a list of all members, who are male, who are subscribed to the news channel.

2) If I select the following fields:

Gender and Marital Status >> Male

Gender and Marital Status >> Married

Age >> Between >> 25 and 50

This will generate a list of all males, who are married, between the ages of 25 and 50.

3) If I select the following fields:

Gender and Marital Status >> Male

Gender and Marital Status >> Single

Age >> Between >> 20 and 25

Growth Path >> Not Participated >> Encounter Weekend

This will generate a list of all males, who are single, between the ages of 20 and 25, who have not attended the Encounter Weekend.

3) Bulk Actions

Once you have generated a list of people you can perform various bulk actions:

  1. You can message selected people
  2. You can sync selected people to a specific list
  3. You can export your selected people
